Curriculum

This course uses the Exploring American History curriculum by Notgrass to provide a comprehensive study of American history, integrating history, literature, and Bible study. Each unit consists of lessons that include historical narrative, primary source readings, literature, and review exercises. Writing assignments are built into the course to strengthen English skills through essay writing, literary analysis, and creative projects. 

COURSE OBJECTIVES: By the end of this semester, students will…

1. Understand key events, figures, and developments in American history.

2. Analyze the causes and effects of historical events and their impact on the present.

3. Develop skills in critical thinking, research, and presentation.

4. Appreciate the diverse perspectives that have shaped American history.

Methodology

Through analysis of primary sources, United States original documents, speeches, etc, students will start to grasp a larger understanding of the importance of historical events in the past.  Projects, quizzes, essays, and annotating sources will all be utilized to help assess students understanding of the material.
