Geometry- 1 Credit Fulfills Foundational and Distinguished Achievement Diploma Requirements Curriculum: This Geometry course using the Denison Math approach offers students a deep, logical, and engaging study of geometric relationships through clear instruction, visual reasoning, and applied problem-solving. Built to cultivate both mastery and meaning, this course guides students in understanding the world through the lens of shapes, measurements, and space—while developing the critical thinking skills that extend far beyond the classroom. Topics include reasoning and proof, properties of lines and angles, triangle congruence, similarity, trigonometry, circles, area, volume, and coordinate geometry. Students learn to construct formal geometric arguments and apply algebraic thinking to spatial problems. Denison Math places a strong emphasis on building conceptual understanding and mathematical fluency. Lessons are structured in a way that supports both independent learners and those who benefit from guided practice and visual models. Methodology A combination of lecture, class discussion, presentations, videos, cooperative learning, and problem-based learning will be used in this course. Grades will be determined by the satisfactory and timely completion of assignments. The grade of each assignment is based on the prerequisite given for each assignment. Below is an overview of topic/ units and major assessments/assignments for this course. Please note dates/timeframes are subject to change and are an estimate. Topics Covered: Foundations of geometry and logic Parallel lines, angles, and transversals Triangle properties, congruence, and similarity Trigonometry and right triangles Quadrilaterals and polygons Circles and their properties Perimeter, area, and surface area Volume and solids Coordinate and transformational geometry Curriculum : Denison Math https://www.denisonalgebra.com/geometry-course-page
