The purpose of Developmental Algebra is skills development to establish a strong foundation of algebra skills that can be built upon, with lessons designed to prepare the student for success in a college-level mathematics course.

Algebra Development is designed for the student who has already learned some of the major concepts and processes of pre-algebra but seeks a deeper and broader understanding of the discipline. This course integrates the advanced elements of algebra with technology, problem solving, application and mathematical modeling. Enriched instruction emphasizes problem-solving, multiple solution methods, and higher-order thinking. Students will engage in inquiry-based learning, collaborative projects, and extension activities that prepare them for success in future mathematics courses such as Geometry, Algebra 2, and other classes. 

Methodology

A combination of lecture, class discussion, presentations, videos, cooperative learning, and problem-based learning will be used in this course. Grades will be determined by the satisfactory and timely completion of assignments. The grade of each assignment is based on the prerequisite given for each assignment. Below is an overview of topic/ units and major assessments/assignments for this course. Please note dates/timeframes are subject to change and are an estimate.
