Discover the soundtrack of the centuries! In this engaging elective, students will explore how music has shaped—and been shaped by—historical events, cultural shifts, and social movements. From the chants of ancient civilizations to the anthems of revolution, from classical symphonies to modern-day protest songs, this class journeys through time to uncover the powerful role music plays in telling the story of humanity.
Students will listen, analyze, and reflect on music from a wide variety of time periods and cultures while also learning about the composers, contexts, and events that brought each piece to life. No musical experience is necessary—just an open ear and a curious mind!
